So on day 1, the first thing we had to do was an ICE BREAKER GAME.
There were questions on the ole black board,
and each group have to choose 1 category,
and each person will have to choose 1 question from the category.
So my group (Ruixue, Zach, Kean, and I)
choose CELEBRITIES.
And the question i chose was "latest gossips about Kelly Clarkson".
So we had to sign in msn
and share with the rest our answers through msn.
IT WAS SO FUN!
And chaotic as well.
Everyone was busy adding each other on msn,
and we were having a mass chat!
I feel that the ice breaking game really 'broke the ice'.
I don't think i would have managed to get every single classmates' msn add
if not for this activity!
Next, there was lecture.
I learnt more about blogs and wiki.
To tell you the truth,
i didn't know much about wiki before the lecture!
I knew that for wikis, anyone in the world can edit them.
But then i though,
WOULDN'T THAT MAKE WIKIs UNRELIABLE?
If anyone can edit it, does it mean that people can anyhow change the facts?
But Miss Faridah explained to me that WIKIs involve the whole world to constantly correct those who are wrong.
For example, if a wrong fact was added to a page,
someone who sees it will correct it very fast.
And i still remembered the incident when someone edited Xiaxue's blog and indicated that she died.
Then many people were calling Xiaxue to make sure that she's still alive,
and the information was edited in a short time!
Lastly, we learnt about the different purposes of internet resources.
There's 6 different purpose - information, advocacy, business/marketing, news, personal and entertainment.
Overall, i think that the first day was very exciting and useful, as i learnt many things that i had never thought about even though i use the internet a few hours a day. For example, i leant more about Wikis and Blogs, what WWW stands for, and the different purposes of internet resources.
