So on the 2nd day,
it's time for us to do SERIOUS work.
We had to research more on our chosen topic.
But firstly, we had to learn how to be specific in typing our keywords when searching in search engines.
We learnt the importance of keywords, and the different types of ways to construct searches and make them as precise as possible.
For example,
we learnt to use the "Boolean"
Which meant that we use AND, OR, AND NOT, BUT NOT
in our searches.
We also learnt to use ( )
so that the search engine will search the keywords with brackets first.
We began our research by writing down the keywords and their variations.
Next, we had to write down the search query and it must include the keywords and variations.
I had chosen the topic TRENDS AND DEVELOPMENTS OF BUSINESS BLOGGING.
At first, i thought that the topic would be easy
as business blogging also means online business
and there should be a lot of available resources on it online.
And during my CDS for Public Speaking,
i did a newspaper article sharing on business blogging too.
However, after searching on google and google scholar,
i found that the topic is not easy to search on,
and after searching for awhile,
i decided to change topics.
I U-turned and decided to change topics.
I changed it to the effects of AIDs HIV on youths.
My friends asked me why i changed topics,
since i've already did some research on business blogging.
But i see it as this - if you are stuck in a traffic jam in an expressway,
and you are progressing slowly,
but you can exit at a point in the expressway,
and you will have to turn back and go back from the start,
and to take another route but a faster one,
would you do it?
I WOULD!
Surprisingly, i managed to catch up with the rest!
I managed to find a lot of articles and reports and fact sheets and websites on AIDs and HIV.
We tried 2 type of search facility,
which is google and google scholar.
I personally think that google is better!
Even though google scholar is useful and is very specific,
it doesnt have as many search results as google.
And it doesn't have search results from some websites
such as forums and blogs.
Lastly, we learnt how to do citations for our research.
In my opinion, i think that citations are very important
as it takes a lot of effort for someone to create a report or a journal,
and we need to credit the person for his/her work.
